Leon and I cycled to Scotland on Saturday. We had beautiful weather, so we took advantage of it. We cycled from Carlisle to Annan and back. The weather couldn’t have been better, in fact Leon says that it was almost too warm for cycling! I disagree, and think that it was the ideal temperature. :) (it was about 20º C or 68º F)
After stopping for a relaxing lunch at Back of the Hill, we began the cycle trip home. The trip home was a bit more challenging, as the saddle-soreness started to really wear on me and I was beginning to get tired. When we got home, I collapsed on the couch and slept for nearly 2 hours while Leon painted our new gate. I’ll never really understand why my husband has so much energy, but I appreciate it greatly! :) Later we looked up the mileage of our cycling trip. ::drum roll:: 38 miles!!! REALLY? Good thing you didn’t tell me that until after we got back.
I even got a bit of a sunburn! A sunburn? Are you sure we’re in the UK??
I say that G is for Gretna because we cycled through Gretna to get to our destination. I really only mention Gretna because any of you Jane Austen fans will have at least heard of it because Lydia and Wickham were planning on eloping in Gretna Green.
Why the crazy long cycle ride? Well because we wanted to do it. And because we are trying to cycle the C2C cycle route sometime in the next month or so, which goes from the west coast of England to the east coast (about 140 miles). Hmm… with how knackered I was after the trip on Saturday we’ll have to do a bit more training before we tackle the C2C!! I think I’m up to the challenge…
