Leon and I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this past week. We had tickets to the Olympic Games in London! We got to see the ladies’ indoor volleyball. When we bought our tickets last year, we had no idea who was playing. A few days before we went, we found out that Team USA would be playing! Ha! How cool is that?!?
I have to say it has been great fun to be in London while the Olympics are happening. The buzz that has been felt across the whole country is ten times as intense in London, the centre of the Olympic Games.
Of course, because we had to get to the venue so early, they weren’t letting anyone who had tickets to our match in yet. Thankfully, they had a big screen set up outside for people to watch. Leon and I enjoyed watching Andy Murray and Laura Robson get the silver medal in the tennis mixed doubles.
Once we were inside, it was time to cheer on Team USA! They played Turkey, and it was a good game. I was kind of surprised at the amount of Turkish fans there, but there were also a number of US fans. The US won after 3 sets!
After the US played, we go to watch Brazil play Serbia. Brazil are the reigning Olympic champions (since 2008 in Beijing). Serbia were apparently the European champions. We ended up leaving early because the game was just moving slow. The next day, we found out that Brazil did in fact win.
An interesting note, the USA and Brazil are now going to play each other in the Gold medal match!
